Matucana grandiflora
Native to the mountainous regions of Peru, Matucana grandiflora is a rare and highly sought-after cactus species valued for its compact globular form and vivid red-orange flowers. During the summer blooming season, mature plants produce brilliant blooms that create a dramatic contrast against the textured green body of the cactus.
Over time, this species slowly forms attractive clumps of rounded stems, eventually reaching up to approximately 8 inches across. Its sculptural growth habit, manageable size, and striking floral display make Matucana grandiflora especially rewarding for collectors of uncommon South American cacti and curated container collections.
