An exceptional hybrid for collectors, Calibanus hookeri × Beaucarnea combines the rugged, sculptural caudex of Calibanus hookeri with the graceful, fountain-like foliage of Beaucarnea. Grown from ethically sourced seed in our Ventura, California nursery, each plant is a genetically unique individual with its own distinctive form and character.
These uncommon hybrids are especially prized for their unusual reddish foliage, slowly developing caudex, and striking architectural presence. This batch of hybrids are showing more Beaucarnea traits right now, with some pretty red emerging from the caudex. As seed-grown plants, no two specimens are exactly alike, making each one a unique addition to a collection.
Calibanus is rarely encountered in cultivation, and hybrids such as these are offered only in very limited numbers. Whether displayed as a specimen in a container or incorporated into a frost-free xeriscape, these plants reward patience with increasing character and beauty over time.

Care: Prefers full sun to bright light with fast-draining soil. Water thoroughly when the soil has dried completely. Drought tolerant once established.
