Seed-Grown: This plant was grown from seed in our Arch Rock Aloes nursery.
Hybrid: This plant is the result of hybridization, a process where two plants are cross pollinated.
Rare: This plant is very hard to find anywhere else. We specialize in rare plants, and are the only growers of some species.
A distinctive interspecific Aloe hybrid combining the parentage of two striking species. Aloe rubroviolacea (native to the Arabian Peninsula) is known for its broad foliage and reddish-purple tones under favorable growing conditions, while Aloe rupestris contributes its own architectural character and distinctive leaf structure. We love how hearty and toothy this cross is turning out so far with strong A. rupestris traits. Parentage has red and orange flowers on either side so we are excited to see the flower color and shape on the cross.
Grown from seed in our Ventura, California nursery, this hybrid represents the ongoing exploration of Aloe diversity through seed propagation and hybridizing. Each seed-grown plant is genetically unique and may express its own combination of characteristics, including foliage color, form, growth habit, and other traits inherited from its parent species.
As these plants mature, their individual characteristics will continue to develop. An interesting addition for Aloe collectors and growers drawn to unusual hybrids, botanical variation, and plants with the potential to become distinctive specimens.
