Fockea edulis

Fockea edulis is a fascinating caudiciform from the Milkweed family prized for its swollen, sculptural caudex and vining growth habit. Native to South Africa and Namibia, this slow-growing asclepiad develops an impressive rotund caudex and sending up seasonal slender scrambling vines.

These seedlings are an excellent opportunity for collectors to grow and shape their own specimen from a young age. With patience, Fockea edulis transforms into a living sculpture, making it a favorite among caudiciform enthusiasts, bonsai growers, and collectors of unusual succulents. It is one of our favorites to keep constrained in smaller containers manipulating how the caudex grows. When it is putting off new leaves and vining it is fun to work with and shape. 

The plant produces small, whitish-green inconspicuous flowers. As a dioecious species, individual plants are either male or female.
